Have an eye test in July with julEYE

JuleyeThe Eye Foundation is launching a media campaign called julEYE, encouraging Australians to get their eyes tested during the month of July. Seventy-five percent of vision loss is preventable or treatable if detected early enough, yet every 65 minutes an Australian loses part or all of their vision. Vision loss can affect young people as well as the elderley, and may happen so gradually that people are unaware that they are losing their vision. This year, the Eye Foundation is asking all Australians – young and old – to get their eyes tested in julEYE.

Jacinta Spurrett, Chief Executive Officer of the Eye Foundation hopes people of all ages will put eye health examinations on their calendar as they do their other regular health checks.

“Vision loss can affect people at any time in their lives and it will often happen gradually, so by the time it becomes noticable, the damage is done. We want all Australians, young and old, to get their eyes tested in July,” says Ms Spurrett.

Take a look at the Eye Foundation’s website, which asks you to save your own sight by having an eye test, and save someone elses sight by making a donation.
